A few more geothermal features....

Dragon's Head Spring was one of the most unique things to see at the park, along with Mud Volcano. Just a little way down the road was Sulfur Caldron - a boiling pot of smelly sulfur.

Yellowstone Lake and Hayden Valley

Driving along Yellowstone Lake, we had some beautiful views of the lake with mountains in the background. Bison are often seen in Hayden Valley, and we were not disappointed! We saw several bulls up close and even got to see a cow with her calf! We also saw more elk today.

West Thumb Geyser Basin

West Thumb Geyser Basin had some beautiful geothermal pools with a pretty view of Yellowstone Lake in the background.

Old Faithful

Got to see Old Faithful erupt just after lunch time! It was magnificent!

Waterfalls

Some pretty waterfalls on the Gibbon River and on the Firehole River.

Artist Paintpots

The first picture is of Steamboat Geyser. This geyser erupts unpredictably, but when it does erupt, it shoots over 300 feet in the air! It was mildly active when we were here... we saw a few small jets of water. The rest of the pictures are from the artist paintpot area. At the top of the hill were puddles of bubbling mud. Joshua was especially intrigued!

Norris Geyser Basin

Norris Geyser Basin was full of geothermal features. Small geysers, roaring fumaroles, and hot springs. It looked like another world!
